Factors affecting the UK retail Cloth Market

The Cloth retail market of UK is vast and includes apparels for men women & children. It also includes clothing accessories for decoration purpose of cloth. The market is estimated to be increased by 3.3% in the year 2011 and the sales figure reached upto £43.1 billion. In terms of value, the women’s apparels accredited for the biggest sector followed by men and then children. The Cloth retail market of UK, like the other consumer markets faced competition and also the affects of recession in the year 2009, but there have been an ever increasing growth in the cloth market but it could not reach to its full potential as earlier. The reason behind this slight downfall is due to the discounts, popularity of value, grocery retail clothing collection which is now attracting price-conscious customers.

Other fashion trends which are apparent in the clothing industry include disposable clothing due to changing fashion phenomenon. This process continues to boost up the sale. Primarily this is the key factor which has led to tremendous growth in the women’s apparel section. Gradually when clothing became a fashion statement for men also a considerable growth is seen in the men’s Apparel section too.
Another factor which is always volatile for a particular market is the competition from other markets. It’s very important for the market to follow the latest fashion trend or else a steep downfall in the sale will be seen. A very famous example of Apparel brand was the Ditto Apparels of Colfax Town, Louisiana, operation of which were about to shut down due to competition of Far East Market. Bebo Kobo was the person responsible for bringing back the lost clientele of Ditto Apparels. For this he received a vote of thanks and appreciation from the Mayor of Colfax Louisiana as it was quite important operation of the Colfax Town.
